Yes, you've heard of a high-tea before... but have you heard of a BEER high tea?!

Matching the beer theme |
We were kindly invited to try out the latest initiative at
Baby Mammoth in Northbridge, beer high tea which (you'll be glad to know) they plan to do regularly; hopefully monthly, with local breweries. We sure drink recklessly to sustain our never-ending appetite, but beer isn't usually our go-to-drink at bars. So we didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into except for the fact that
Beer High Tea sounded intriguing.
All the tables were set out neat and nice and the great thing about
Baby Mammoth is that it is a small local business owned by a young couple, Tania and Ryan who has worked hard to build up their brand and have rightfully gained respect and trust from the crowd as the place to dine in on William Street, Northbridge. And to those of you who are not familiar with
Baby Mammoth (but you should really try their food and drinks!), it's the only home of over a hundred beer in Northbridge. That's something!
Starting with tap beer first, we opted for
Rocky Ridge Brewing Co's Wild Zebra; milk stout. We are familiar with the Rocky Ridge; WA brewery in Busselton, who we have collabed with in the past and is famous for their limited edition and quirky releases such as kiwi fruit, citrus and peach to name a few. Wild Zebra is one of their latest creation and not only does it have a kick-ass flavour, but 100% of its proceeds go to
Sock it to Sarcoma!
The high tea was a ten-course meal paired with Boat Rocker Brewers and distiller's limited release beers.
Boat Rocker Brewers & Distillers is an independent craft brewer in Victoria since 2009 and has joined up with Hippocampus Gin company as well.

Detailed menu |
All the Boat Rocker beers we tried on the day were funky and each one really showed its character. From Sunshine & Rainbows (table beer) to House Red (sour blended red), the designs and ideas behind the bottles were appealing. đ

Some of the favourites from the night were aged gouda scone with tomato conserve- we desperately wanted a recipe for that tomato conserve! As for the beer, the Wild Apricot and House Red were our definite favourites. They were very easy to drink and enjoyable with the food they were paired with.
The food provided at Baby Mammoth are hearty and sophisticated as
everything is made in-house like kimchi, sourdough, wholemeal toasts and
tomato conserve. We can't wait to go back and try something different on their menu- On Thursdays you can get a three-course meal for just $39per person as the chefs whip up something different every week working with the produce they've got on the day.
