TWR Lounge Bar

It was the attention to detail as well as the sophistication and top-notch service but most of all, tasty cocktails served with perfection that crowned the Crown Tower's The Waiting Room (TWR) as the WA's Best Cocktail Bar in 2017 AHA-AON Hospitality Awards for Excellence and the best bar in 2018 Gourmet Traveller Australian Hotel Awards.

It is a huge achievement for the team at The Waiting Room (short for TWR), a stylish cocktail bar that opened in 2016 and already well known to many WA patrons who love impeccable service paired with good vibes if the three-tonne chandeliers and its luxurious decor and even better drinks are anything to go by.

If you are still not convinced that this bar delivers, you may be impressed by the fact that they sell approximately 2.5k caramel espresso martinis each month (one of the best cocktails on the menu and is here to stay!); that has to mean something!

On the menu are modern interpretations of classic cocktails such as Holy Moly! which is a modern twist on the classic Bloody Mary and is made of Rutte Celery Gin, salmon fat washed Talisker 10, tomato shrub, watermelon rind, shiitake, sriracha, sumac, worchester sauce and celery bitters. It has savoury notes with slightest kick of chili, and if you aren't cringing when you read this, it might just be your thing.

Holy Moly! was my favourite cocktail of the night!

Sure, the prices may scare few people but the care, the thoughts and experiments that go behind every single cocktail on the menu really makes you appreciate the drink. Assistant bar manager Jay Dharan and the bar staff such as Stefano are dedicated and passionate about creating an experience for customers, creating an extensive menu with interesting ingredients and the backstory listed below the name of each cocktail -just a simple indication of the passion that TWR represent as an award winning bar. Currently they are showcasing some new and old faves on their menu through different ages such as golden age, jet age and renaissance creating an experience rather than just service. That's not to say they don't offer other drinks such as wine and non-alcoholic drinks as well as some seasonal drinks (we were tipped that mulled wine may surface on their menu during winter *shhhhh..*).

Whether it be an after work drink, a romantic hideaway or afternoon tea, TWR can transform from casual lounge during the day to a sophisticated cocktail bar at night with live music entertainment on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. They offer brunch on weekends and high coffee every day until 5pm as well as special offers such as Make your Own Gin Menu (for World Gin Day) which is subject to change with different trends.
