The standard

Image
The high standard at the Standard Perth sets the bar for classy bars in Perth! Too many puns for your liking? ;) T he chef Chase Weber has been working hard since the beginning of the Standard, fusing Asian cuisine into Western bar culture to pair with cocktails and wines and beers, and has been doing it well. In fact, he was crowned the winner of the competition at the Winning Appliances for the WA Good Food Guide's Chef's cook-off. This turmeric wafer duck salad was the winning dish. Most dishes are designed to be shared (or not to be shared which are some of the other dishes on offer on menu). The Spring/Summer menu here is all brand-new except for two dishes which managed to stay; one of which is their famous kangaroo dish (Caramelised kangaroo, sesame soy custard, pineapple, finger lime). CLICK here for the full menu Kingfish ceviche, toasted coconut, vinaigrette, sour coconut This elegant dish was a great start to our course mea...

Vegans rejoice at Bib & Tucker

Image
#WinterSeries #VeganDegustation Pink Gin x B/T Blood Mary's Bib and Tucker is an all-day restaurant providing a modern Australian dining and gourmet pizzas by the oceanside in North Freo. Nestled in pristine sand dunes of Leighton Beach Panoramic ocean view Open kitchen view Eamon Sullivan and Scott Bridger Eamon Sullivan, one of the owners of Bib and Tucker was the host of the event. The dinner was led by the Executive Chef Scott Bridger who has a known passion for WA local and fresh produce. This is shown throughout the Bib's menu with over 80% of ingredients being from WA, most of which are from our South West region. Moreover, Scott grows his own vegetables and herbs/plants to use in his dishes. Given this reputation, the dining experience was sensational and unlike any other vegan foods available in the market today. We were generally very impressed with the high level of hospitality provided on the night and professional and friendly...

Mammoth meal

Image
Yes, you've heard of a high-tea before... but have you heard of a BEER high tea?! Matching the beer theme We were kindly invited to try out the latest initiative at Baby Mammoth in Northbridge, beer high tea which (you'll be glad to know) they plan to do regularly; hopefully monthly, with local breweries. We sure drink recklessly to sustain our never-ending appetite, but beer isn't usually our go-to-drink at bars. So we didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into except for the fact that Beer High Tea sounded intriguing. All the tables were set out neat and nice and the great thing about Baby Mammoth is that it is a small local business owned by a young couple, Tania and Ryan who has worked hard to build up their brand and have rightfully gained respect and trust from the crowd as the place to dine in on William Street, Northbridge. And to those of you who are not familiar with Baby Mammoth (but you should really try their food and drinks!), it...

Sparkle Sunday

Image
Champagne is a commonly known as the drink of celebration, but with growing number of West Aussies opting for a glass of bubbles as their drink of choice at luncheons, events, etc. Bistro Guillaume comes in timely to present their newest offer Champagne Sundays . Every Sunday (for a limited time only), they offer decadent two or three course meals with flowing Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial. But bear in mind, the booking must be made for lunch between 12 noon to 1pm to receive this service. Bistro Guillaume is located inside the Crown Metropol and is situated right next to the Atrium. The decor is impressive with high ceiling and open view of the pool. Spacious & comfortable decor The service was impeccable starting from the most amazing bread (I had a little too many refills) followed by the entrees -onion soup (traditional French soup made of onions and beef stock topped with melted cheese) and twice-baked cheese souffle with roquefort sauce. Not to mention the t...

Tiisch Cafe & Bistro

Image
This article is mainly dedicated to the NEW dinner service available at the Tiisch cafe and bistro . However, they do have an extensive range of dishes from breakfast, brunch to dinner menus. CLICK to see menu or book The word ' Tiisch ' is derived from 'Zu Tisch' which means table. German Kings would say to gather community around a table to dine together. I think this sings perfectly throughout the bistro what with community tables and dining tables all lined up as if we are dining together. The real OOMPH factor here is the transition between breakfast/lunch to dinner. During the sunlight hours, the cafe is vibrant, fresh and inviting. On the contrast, during their dinner service, the cafe completely transforms into almost a new venue; a modern bistro, which enables customers to immerse themselves into the whole experience. It's intimate and exciting.💓 I must mention, their cocktail list is delicious and inventive! I opted for Avante Gardner as ...
