Each jar has the labels on them and are perfect for gifting. I tasted the Red Velvet and the Malteser cake and I was afraid the cakes will be dry. But much to my delight, the cakes were moist and had just sufficient amount of icing to be enjoyed with the cake. THE honeycake

Image
Honeycake is the first WA operated cakery specialising in traditional Czech layered cake from a centuries old Bohemian recipe. It incorporates layers of smooth, creamy caramel topped with walnuts and honey crumbs using natural, preservatives free ingredients. Not only do they sell cakes, but they range from icecream pops in collaboration with #pashpop, to different flavours of honeycake including chocolate, cheesecake and now PANDAN! I still cannot believe the first time I've tried the cake. Velvety smooth, and just a pleasure in my mouth. Luckily, they are always generously offering tasters at their shops - courtesy to the owner Simona, a lovely lady who has passion for her delicious creation and the customers. They take cake orders too - at least two days in advance, including a premium gift box with value of $49 which can be made of two flavours. It's sure to be an impressive gift to give to your loved ones! 💓 Pandan Honeycake premium giftbox $49 (You can mixmatch

Tiisch Cafe & Bistro

Image
This article is mainly dedicated to the NEW dinner service available at the Tiisch cafe and bistro . However, they do have an extensive range of dishes from breakfast, brunch to dinner menus. CLICK to see menu or book The word ' Tiisch ' is derived from 'Zu Tisch' which means table. German Kings would say to gather community around a table to dine together. I think this sings perfectly throughout the bistro what with community tables and dining tables all lined up as if we are dining together. The real OOMPH factor here is the transition between breakfast/lunch to dinner. During the sunlight hours, the cafe is vibrant, fresh and inviting. On the contrast, during their dinner service, the cafe completely transforms into almost a new venue; a modern bistro, which enables customers to immerse themselves into the whole experience. It's intimate and exciting.💓 I must mention, their cocktail list is delicious and inventive! I opted for Avante Gardner as

Soul food

Image
Foodies will probably agree- the most frequently asked question we get is: " Can you recommend me a good food place/restaurant? " It's definitely a part of the job (or a serious hobby in my case) requirement to answer this question. Most of the time I'm reluctant to tell people anywhere in particular because: 1) everyone's taste buds are different, 2) there are so many restaurants, it is hard to pick just one or two! 3) I don't want to tell anyone about my secret place sometimes hahah. But today, I wanted to share some of my favourite places to eat out in Perth. Again, I want to emphasise that I wasn't sponsored in any way to eat at these places and that it is my personal taste. I recommend everyone to try food for themselves and make judgements for themselves. My soul food is pizza as all of my close friends and family are very much aware of this. Some of the best pizzas I have tried in Perth are  Canteen Pizza in Cottesloe, L'a

Theo & Co.

Image
Theo & co . has two locations - East Vic Park and Leederville. They are always buzzing with liveliness, most of the time filled with people despite so many other food options available on Albany Hwy eatery strip. Their pizza dough is the key here, and if you are in at the right time, you can see the pizzaiolo working the doughies -made fresh everyday. The dough really brings together the flavours with the toppings. And much to a pizza-lover's delight, they offer wide varieties of pizzas from G-ma style, stonebaked pizzas to skillet pizzas and dessert pizzas with inventive toppings. FYI : Skillet pizzas are cooked and served in a heavy cast iron skillet, with a soft buttery base (think slightly burnt bases mmmm!) Stonebaked pizzas are baked on a stone with a sprinkle of semolina for softer and lighter crusts. Grandma style pizzas are light, fluffy focaccia-style dough cooked in a baking tray. Classic Meat pizza - "The Max" and Stonebaked pizza - "Punkarel

Spirals Cinnamon

Image
Nothing beats the smell of fresh baked goods. This is what Spirals Cinnamon in Mt Hawthorn offers. Tucked away in the corner of Charles and Green Street, Spirals Cinnamon offers fresh cinnamon rolls hot out of the oven. They keep classic cinnamon rolls at the back for freshness and make only one of each flavour at a time to be on the display- flavours which change regularly. Expect Coffee, Raspberry, Cream cheese, Peanut Butter (YUM) and more (what’s next?)! Although there is a shady alfresco area with several tables for those who choose to dine-in, overall they offer little space for dine-in and utilise most of its spacing for back of the house baking. However, a lot can be forgiven for an excellent Cinnamon roll. Ask anyone: you may have never tried the Spirals’ cinnamon roll, but you will never have eaten it only once. Take note: they are only open from Wednesday to Saturday. Facebook page   Location: 21 Green St, Mount Hawthorn WA 6016 Opening Hours: Wednesday -

Stage Bar & Kitchen

Image
A bar slash kitchen in a hotel? Well, how good can it get? – you may ask.  You can find the answer at The Stage Bar and Kitchen, situated in the fairly-new (opened November 2016) Peppers Hotel in the CBD, Perth. Although conveniently located right near the Perth Arena, the hotel can be easily passed on by city-goers. Their exterior design blends into the street alongside old buildings which have occupied the Wellington Street for decades. The building itself is designed with built-in, light-up panels which illuminate the street with vibrant colours (they also have valet parking for your convenience). Menu captures the modern essence of the hotel – from chicken consommé served cheekily in espresso cups to polenta chips with pesto mayonnaise. All dishes are modern and many are inspired by Asian cuisine from crispy calamari with chilli, garlic and gremolata and dried lemon to Thai infused duck dim sum with crispy pickled ginger and orange gel.  Each

Lola's GC

Winner winner chicken dinner!  I am rejoicing for the newly opened joint- the Lola’s grilled chicken from the same legends that brought us the royAl’s chicken and burger. They are anything but an ordinary grilled chicken. Capturing the essence of their Filipino background (the Craigie Brothers and Mama Estrella’s collaboration and tribute to “Lola”, meaning grandmother in Tagalog), they serve chicken as Classic Grilled Inasal (to be grilled/barbequed, popular staple at every Filipino BBQ or festivals), Chipotle in Adobo (for spicy lovers) or Lola’s special (incorporating Banana Ketchup as the main ingredient). Their menu is simple yet mouthwatering- think Garlic fried rice (AMAZING), adobo chili mayo and royAl’s cheese burger spring rolls! The décor comprises of a giant painting on the wall which reminds of Philippines with its bright and bold summer colours- immediately immersing customers with a happy atmosphere. The smell of the grill takes us right to streets of Philippin

Thaitation

Image
Thailand cuisine is a favourite cuisine for many including myself. Thaitation hasn’t been around for long but it has certainly made itself known in the Floreat Forum block. It’s a small restaurant with an inviting alfresco dining area. And you can expect full bookings on busy Friday and weekend nights. Upon entering, you instantly hear the chefs in the kitchen speaking in Thai, knockings of woks in the background and you are hit with smell of fish sauce and coconut milk. You see tanks of fish oil and coconut milk stacked up on the kitchen bench. They offer authentic yet modern flavours. If you were having difficulty finding a reasonably priced Thai restaurant, Thaitation has hit the spot in terms of pricing and flavours! They offer seasonal menus (Think seafood in coconut broth served in a whole coconut), as well as crowd favourites including pad Thai, tom yum and chilli crispy chicken.
